Just one of those threads I drop every once and awhile for some culture..

Watching:

Red vs. Blue Reconstruction

http://rvb.roosterteeth.com/archive/?sid=rvb

The new "series" ended today with a fantastic twist. They attempted to bring more drama and action into the reconstruction show, while still keeping the core randomness, crudeness, and humor alive. The result was a shorter series with a much tighter plot. You might not "get" the show if you are not a gamer and the new series might be a bit hard to follow if you don't have a core grasp on the old red vs. blue... but for a free web based drama/comedy it is one of the best every and has better writing then most TV shows these days.

Listening to, Snow Patrol: A Million Little Suns

An amazing song.. drew me right in. Can't help but see this as an amazing intro video song for a sports team. The build is stellar. (part one of a 3 part song) The CD as a whole is kind of "meh" but the 16 min song "The Lightning Strike" is one of those rare songs that just pulls you in and feels like its 3 min long rather than 16.

Just imagine the rink going dark, as the lights, replay and video slowly builds around your team's last, best chance, all or nothing charge ....building on a theme of you may never get this chance ever again, all or nothing...

Playing: Fable II

A solid follow up to a good game (Fable). Fun 3 button action game with some good RPG and story elements.

One of my Fav little movies of the last year, if your looking for offbeat comedy... you will like this... warning, the pacing can be a little slow.

Battlestar galactica has started back up for its now 9 remaining shows... and LOST started with a very strong two parter to get me right back into the series.

I'm the only person in this world that has a 50" big screen...and doesn't use it....

I just can't get into TV any more unless it isn't the Avalanche hockey games..

Reading...."Don Cherry's Hockey Stories and Stuff"

Good read so far.

Watching: At the moment, the young starts game:
In general...Battlestar Galactica, and Smallville (with the wife).

Listening to "La Oreja de Van Gogh" and "Amaral"

Should be reading "Patrick Roy: Winning. Nothing Else" written by his father.

Caved in and saw Avatar last night in 3d. Fantastic movie. Glad I saw it, but I'll probably never see it again.

Seeing: NHL Center Ice pretty much every night. Latest movies Ive seen in the theater were: "Avatar" (AMAZING!!) and "From Rome With Love" (Story sucks, but at least there is a lot of action/killing).

Listening to: AM/FM radio when I drive. AM is usually PR Politics. FM is a rock station over here that plays all kinds of rock.

Playing: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (PC), Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor (PC), Red Alert 3 (PC), Command and Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath (PC).

Current Status: Bed-ridden with an ankle injury I suffered yesterday on a softball game. Play on the plate guy hit my ankle from the side during his slide and twisted my ankle pretty good. I cant put any weight on it. Getting it X-ray'd today hopefully.

I saw it saturday night in 3D.

The movie was really well made, but I found the plot a little predictable

Avatar was a great visual movie. I saw it both in 3D and 2D. 3D was amazing, though I hate wearing glasses over glasses, give us clip ons for us blind people!

For those who have not seen it in 2D, I actually recommend that as well, the colors pop more and some stuff stands out that you miss in 3D imo.

Anyone looking for a good new Drama tv show, Caprica on SyFy is shaping up to be an interesting series. Can't say its a great show as of yet, but it has the makings and is one of the smarter shows on TV right now.

As for music, I am really hooked on Big If's temp job Demo and the overall sound of the band. Interested to see what their CD actually sounds like when it hits. You can listen to the demos on their myspace page. Some former members of the band Yellowcard and some new blood as well.

Also just finished Mass Effect II (xbox 360)

A great game that mixes a ton of different styles of gameplay. Its an amazing feat of game design and worth playing. Other games I highly recommend, Assassin's Creed II (my personal game of the last year or so), and Ghostbusters(a great game that has some of the best voice acting and story I have seen in years, plus it plays like you expect a ghostbusters game should)
